I’ve been taking a slightly different direction lately – but all with the same theme. Florals or garden scenes with drippy and runny paint streaks. Yes, it looks abstract, but it’s also representational . In my paintings I have been focusing on rediscovering some moments of clarity amid a confusing jumble of emotions. The two digital hydrangea paintings above are just one example of the new work. Rather than letting the drips conceal the images, I use them to highlight the more dramatic colors. In keeping with the theme of underwater creatures. Here is this little floater, all illuminated in golden shades. The background is one I frequently use – a batik watercolor converted into a digital image. I like combining the tactile nature of “real” artwork with the control and effects of digital work.
